Q: How do I place an order?
A: You may place your order by contacting Brianna via email at email@example.com, by phone at (360) 299-8854, or via our website using the comments section on the home page. Please include the following details with your order: name, email address, phone number, desired items, delivery date and time, delivery address, and any specifics about your order request. Please do not include any payment information in an email; we will work out the payment details once your order is confirmed.
Q: How much notice do I need to give you on an order?
A: The more notice the better, ideally two weeks or more on most orders. Three weeks or more would be terrific for more elaborate cakes. It is never too early to contact me!
Q: Can I place a same-day order?
A: We are a bake-to-order business so we do not have any cakes or cupcakes on hand. We book our orders in advance and are not able to accommodate same-day orders. We apologize for any inconvenience!
Q: How much do you charge for your cakes and cupcakes?
A: It depends on the size, flavors, fillings and complexity of the cake or cupcake that you’d like. Fondant covered cakes and cupcakes are more expensive than those that are topped with buttercream. Champagne cakes and cupcakes are more expensive than chocolate or other flavors. Decorated cakes start at $5.00 per per serving while plain, unfilled cupcakes start at $28.00 a dozen.
Q: Do you offer cake tastings for weddings?
A: Congratulations to both of you! We’d love to help, but we are a bake-to-order business and therefore we do not offer cake tastings. I’m sorry for the inconvenience!
Q: What is fondant?
A: Fondant is an icing that is rolled out similarly to pastry dough. It has a chewy texture and a light, sweet vanilla flavor. It is used to cover cakes for more formal events and gives cakes a porcelain-type finish. A fondant wrapped cake is first frosted with a buttercream frosting of your choice before the fondant is applied. The fondant can be peeled away from the frosting if you want the look of fondant but do not want to eat it.
Q: What are the serving sizes?
A: We determine servings of our cakes based on standard “party-sized” servings. A party-sized serving is 1.5 inches by 2 inches by the height of the cake, which is typically 3-4 inches tall. For example, an eight inch round cake would serve approximately 20 people.
Q: Do you have a storefront?
A: We are a home-based business, so we do not have a storefront. Your order will be conveniently delivered right to you!
Q: Do you deliver to anywhere other than on Fidalgo Island?
A: We delivery on Fidalgo Island exclusively. We’d be happy to meet you near the bridge to save on your drive time, though!
Q: Do you charge for delivery?
A: We offer free delivery on Fidalgo Island.
Q: How do I pay for my order?
A: Payment can be made via cash, check, or via credit card (we use Square Register). Checks can be made out to Anacortes Baking Company. Payment is due upon delivery.
Q: Is your kitchen permitted to produce and sell baked goods?
A: Yes, the Anacortes Baking Company kitchen is permitted by the Washington State Department of Agriculture to produce and sell cupcakes, cookies, cakes and muffins, though at this time only cakes and cupcakes are offered.
We hope to bake for you soon!
